SUMMER IS A GREAT TIME FOR A JOB SEARCH

May 28th, 2006

When you are contemplating a job search, it is always good to consider your competition. Often individuals wait until after summer to look for a new job, because of planned vacations. Parents who can afford to take some time off, may decide to stay home for the summer to spend more time with their chidren.
The main competition you have at the beginning of summer are recent graduates, who are not competition when you have solid working experience. It is tempting to enjoy the weather, spend time with friends and put your job search on hold. Reading the classified ads or posting your resume on the Internet is not a job search. Now is the time to send 10 resumes out every day and put the same hours into your job search as you would if you were employed full-time. The success of your job search will be in direct correlation to the efforts you put forward! If you are looking for a temp or contract position, summer is also the best time to secure these types of positions. Most companies hire the highest level of temporary or contract positions to cover vacations during the summer. It is especially smart to mail out your resumes close to holidays when most people are focused on the holiday rather than their job search. Happy job hunting!
