GAIN NEW MOMENTUM
July 14th, 2006
Do not expect to get your next opportunity only through:
Networking - Direct Contacts - Search Firms - Ads
These are techniques for getting interviews, they don’t guarantee a job! What you do after and during your interviews is what gets you job offers. Your activity level, your atittude and energy level is what keeps your momentum going.
You need to select targets by the following specs:
1. Industry or company size
2. Position or function
3. Geographic area
Manage your campaing with worksheets
1. Interview record (every face to face meeting)
2. Monthly job hunting calendar
MOST IMPORTANTLY
3. Current use of ACTIVE contacts by “target”
PREPARE - INTERVIEW AND THEN FOLLOW-UP
Speak to as many people as you can in your target market
Speak to as many decision makers as you can in your target market
Speak to individuals in your target market who you know either have a current opportunity available, or might be in a position to create an opportunity for you.
Send out ten resumes each and every day.
One week later - call to follow up on those resumes and book interviews.
If you need to get more in the process:
1. Recontact your network
2. Network with a new contact
3. Set up informational meetings
4. Talk to a search firm
5. Answer ads
6. Attend social events/meetings
If you are not currently working, your job search should be your FULL TIME JOB!
The RESULTS of your search will be directly related to the EFFORT you put into your search.
If you are working, but looking for a new opportunity, you need to dedicate at least 10 hours per week.
Good luck in your job search! Barb Bruno, CPC
