“I’M A FREE AGENT ON THE OPEN JOB MARKET”
September 7th, 2006
Often when you are in the midst of a job search, you don’t feel like socializing or attending events. It’s amazing how much we identify with what we do for a living. You just need to know what to say when someone asks you what you do for a living.
“I’m a free agent on the open job market!” The beauty of this answer is it almost always leads to additional questions. You need to stay positive when having discussions about your current job status.
I wasn’t considering a job change, but my company had a major cutback and now I realize how “exciting” this experience is. For the first time in many years, I can assess my skills, education and experience and figure out where my talents can be best utilized. This has been a very fulfilling experience.
Most individuals who are not working sound negative, frustrated, almost angry at times which is why they don’t attract “positive energy” back in their life. You have to look at your situation as a challenge and an opportunity to be in control of your future. Don’t forget, you are a “Free Agent in the Open Job Market!”
